In this episode of crypto riot we discuss the Bitcoin hard fork, segwit and the best way to keep your bitcoin and new bitcoin cash safe using hardware or paper wallets instead of leaving your cryptocurrency on major exchanges like poloniex, kracken, CEX.io, bittrex and bitfinex.
In my opinion a bitcoin soft fork would have been better than the hard fork that occurred on August 1st 2017. Bitcoin cash offers some advantages to the original bitcoin blockchain but most of these changes have come too late. Many altcoins like ripple, litecoin, ethereum and monero have already solved these problems and as these communities grow stronger there will be less and less incentives for users to switch over to Bitcoin cash.
If we can learn any lessons from the ethereum fork after the DAO attack it's that one currency will flourish while the other struggles.
