Bitcoin Futures were supposed to be a saving grace for cryptocurrency. They were supposed to legitimize the asset class and open it to a flood of new investment from “institutional” investors. Bitcoin Futures from CME and CBOE are cash backed and settled, meaning traders are just gambling with dollars, and Bitcoin is never even in the equation. This has lead to price suppression of Bitcoin and people are accusing CME and CBOE of issuing naked shorts. Chico did some research and found out some major things: CME and CBOE are actually paying traders to come and do this to Bitcoin. They both have market maker programs that incentive traders to short or long bitcoin with futures contracts. One of the biggest Market Makers is a company called Virtu Financial. Virtu financial has been accused of market manipulation in the gold markets, silver markets, and even the stock market. This company was hired to destroy Bitcoin.
