Tyler of https://chicocrypto.com/ recently visited Thailand to be apart of the Elastos 1 year anniversary event. Highlights of the event include:

--Rong Chen and Feng Han's Speeches--
No birthday celebration of Elastos would have been complete without a speech from the Elastos co-founder Rong Chen, who has been working on some iteration of this project since 2000. Being the passionate visionary that he is, his words expressed the trials and tribulations the team has been through.

The speech from the co-founder, Feng Han, had some interesting points that are of particular interest to investors and the community as well. We recapitulate the essential takeaways below for the sake of the Elastos community as well as the average investor

--Elastos Smartweb Alpha--
The release of the alpha version of Elastos Smartweb was announced, marking a major milestone achievement in their roadmap. While the core components of the infrastructure are largely in place, these developments are still being classified as Alpha; extensive testing and refinements are required for quality and functionality assurance. The beta version is expected to be released in the near future, it will be feature-complete and closer to full scale deployment within the next year or so.

--Merged Mining With Bitcoin and Bitmain--
Starting 26th August 2018, merged mining of ELA tokens along with Bitcoin officially commenced, launching more than three months ahead of schedule. Partnership with Bitmain and Jihan Wu enables the merged mining feature through the use of Bitmain’s BTC.com mining pool. As one of the three biggest mining pools of Bitcoin, BTC.com has one of the highest computing power, the Elastos main net will be provided with the same mining hash power as that supplied for Bitcoin.

--Cyber Republic Gets 16.5 Million $ELA--
The Cyber Republic initiative has been allocated 16.5 million ELA, which is half of the total supply, by the Elastos Foundation to fund the development and compensation for operations. An additional 1.2% of ELA tokens will be added to the fund annually to account for inflation based on the 33 million base rate.

--CR100--
The only way for Elastos, or any platform for that matter, to develop, grow andincrease adoption rate is by having DApps built on top of it, serving various usesand purposes. CR100 is an initiative designed to achieve exactly that, and also to signify the breadth and depth of the capability and diversity the Elastos
infrastructure. A 100 different projects are listed in multiple categories, each being a template of a potential DApp or utility tool that can be built on the Elastos Smartweb and used to solve real world problems

--Empower35--
Another initiative as part of the revamped Cyber Republic is the Empower35 project, which is a coalition of community-selected future leaders, managers and “congress people”, to lead and run the online republic. It consists of tentatively 35 positions that hopes to attract experts in various fields such as partnership development, marketing, business development, DApp analysis, DApp consulting, security, translation, writing, product management, media production, legal, public speaking, and investment.
