How to install barn doors - A simple step by step tutorial

The new trend for 2016 is rustic chic and barn doors are are being super popular. It seems like I've been installing almost one a week and I wanted to share with everyone on the interwebs how I do it and how they can get a perfect installation without needing to drill directly into cement or find studs in drywall.

The hardest part about installing a barn door is getting the actual door itself. A barn door can not be a standard size door 820mm door because it needs to be able to cover the top and sides of the door frame otherwise it doesn't look right or provide satisfactory privacy.

I live in the Gold Coast Queensland so I order my doors from Affordable doors in Nerang and the track hardware of ebay. Everything normally takes about a week to arrive and about two hours to install. Using special spring loaded drywall anchors saves me having to find a stud or cement in the wall and as long as you aren't using a solid core door it easily provides enough strength to hold everything up.
